Cat & Canary flute

Hundreds of different colorful plastic toys like the Cat & Canary Flute filled the counters of America’s dime stores in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. The Cat & Canary Flute made its debut in 1954 and was an instant hit.

This package design was the rebirth of this classic toy (now in the public domain) for Popular Playthings (formerly Leisen Toys). A scan of the original artwork was dirty and torn so I restored it to like-new appearance in Photoshop. The fresh package used appropriate fonts to the era and I also created an option for a box rather than the blister card.
